My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project.

My first DIY Day!
I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time.
Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Good thing all you blogger peeps were also my inspiration. ;)

With out further adue.

Did I spell that right. I need to learn French.

Not really.

I'm so doing this on purpose.

Ok, here it is.....
Three French Memo Boards, one cork board, one pane for a grocery list and one for notes with a dry erase marker. This is the most fun I've had in a while. Here are some close ups.

So, on the how to...

Stuff needed: one window, one can of primer white spray paint, one can of black spray paint, card board, batting (sp?) quilting squares (I bought pre-coordinated bundles of three), ribbon, buttons, quilting needle, pliers, hot glue gun and lots and lots of hot glue, cork board, grocery list pad, painters tape.

How? Where do I begin? Clean window (glass paint scraper helps and sand paper), tape front of window panes. Spray primer all over, spray front black, take tape off. French Memo Boards: Hot glue fabric over batting on back of card board piece cut to size. Hot glue ribbon over fabric. Use quilting needle to sew buttons on (pliers is to help pull needle through card board). Hot glue board to window pane. Cork board: I had thin cork board so I used several layers and a piece of card board, hot glue ribbon and buttons. Hot glue list pat to window pane (only a little hot glue, enough to hold it on so you can take it off when your done.

Cost, my guestimate is around $35.00. I had all these supplies sitting around my house accept the ribbon so I don't remember the cost precisely.

I think that is about it. Thank you for letting me participate. If you like this please leave a comment and if you don't...well fake it anyway 'cause this thing was a lot of work!

Hi Katie!

I love your project! What a great way to use an old window.

I've decided to keep DIY Day going! I was surprised by the response it got. It will continue to be on Thursdays and the post will go up tonight at 10pm (eastern time).

See you then!

I love this! My mom just gave me an old window she's had forever and I can't wait to figure out how to use it. I know it want it to go over the bed in our guest bedroom in lieu of a headboard. But I'm still deciding how to dress it up. Thanks for the great inspiration!

I like that! I think that turned out really cute!
Katy, yes I do have a hip son! and just a hint, I typed in how to make a diaper cake, and there were some great videos. The one I chose was very simple. I forgot to put that there is a bottle in the middle of the cake. That is what helps make it round. Also it showed 2 different way to roll the diapers. I tried them both ways, and leaving the diaper folded and rolling from the waist band in worked best for me. Let me know if there is any way I can be of help. It was a hit at the shower. Jackie
such a cute idea!! I hope you have a fabulous day!!! hugs!! Britt :-)
