Does three make a pattern that will stick?

Sarah has now slept through the night 10:30 to 4am three nights in a row. I hope this sticks. She then goes back to sleep until eight or nine am. We also switched her formula from lacto free to soy formula. We have to wait a week to see if it really works, but I think that it is. She spits up less, has an easier time feeding and seems to have less gas. Thank goodness for that. It was frustrating how much feeding was a struggle for her. Being a mom now, I have to say there is no way to prepare to be a mom. Being one now, I keep coming across so many different things that I realize I did not get before. I never understood the schedule limitations and the whole being able to talk on the phone thing without interruption. It has only been five weeks and I am so changing in how I see things and respond to things. Its pretty cool though I can't really describe it. I need to find my journal and write in it and then look back and read the difference. Journals are good for that. ...

Home agian and eager to leave

Image
It has been quite nice having so much help from Daddy. It was nice to have Dan put Sarah in the sling. He looks good like that. We spent the week in DC since Dan had a conference there. It was so so nice being in a nice hotel, looking out the window and seeing the building Dan was in rather than knowing he is an hour and a half away. I am eager to move. Things have been good. We got the kitchen painted and are almost done with the living room. It was so sad watching our paint colors disappear under the creamy vanilla color. I have a lot of work to do before we take a bunch of stuff to a storage space. Lots of work to do. I have to say, I love feeding Sarah because I get to sit and just spend time with Sarah. The rest of the time, I have lots of work to do. At the moment, I'm pooped. Last night, Sarah slept from 10:30 to 4:30. That was very nice. Today I took her on a walk and since our road is very hilly, its a great work out. I'm really hoping she has given up ...

"Object of My Affection"

I just read a great article in this month's Ladie's Home Journal. Oh I love it! It's called, "The Object of My Affection". The writer, Ann Hood explains why she could never get rid of her rickety old dinner table. "To others it looks like a scarred, beat-up, old fashioned kitchen table. To me it's a link to family - past and present." She goes on to say, "Who can explain which object represents home to different family members?... We tend to think that the things we cherish are a link to our past." My mom still has the dinner table that my little brother, Justin and I sat at in high school and college. She tried to sell it once, even had the check in hand with the prospective owner standing next to her, but just could not do it. She kept it and now hopes for me to have it. Where else is a place where family can sit facing each other in communication. I am excited that this article has sparked in me memories that soothe the lonelin...

A Good Day

I am feeling better today. I got some stuff done. I made dinner even, the first time in, well, I can't remember, but its been a while. Dan was so awesome to take care of Sarah last night and take the 4 am feeding so I got uninterrupted sleep from 10:30pm until 8:30am. Last night, I was seriously done for. I actually got down on my knees and prayed God would make her sleep. Sarah is such a good baby, but caring so intensely for another person is exhausting. Today I felt a million times better. Sarah and I went on a walk. We saw a neighbor of mine and found out that my favorite neighborhood cat along with some others were poisoned. How awful. I am so sad about that. Anyhow, I also got a shower, did my hair and got several boxes packed. I got a headache watching Dr. Phill. It was good but I forgot that watching TV gives me a headache. So beside the cat thing and the headache, today was great. It was good to get stuff done. It was good to talk to a neighbor. It was nice ...

Where I Am is

A good friend shared with me an important lesson God is teaching her. If you seek God only when you are desperate, He keeps you desperate because more than anything, He wants you to draw near to Him because He loves you. For Dan and I there seems to always be something and the phrase "when things calm down" or "when things get back to normal' does not exist. At the moment we are in middle of raising a newborn and moving; selling a house in a market no home owner should go near mind you. So in all of this, I need to cling closer to the Lord. Between a baby, a needy cat, and a husband, I don't want to cling to anything. Mostly, I just want to be left alone, but then I find that is even more draining, so I seek the Lord and finally find refreshment (that and a good long shower helps). Where I Am is where I want to be. I'm looking for encouraging verses if any one has some to share. What are some good verses to encourage and challenge? I would love to kno...

Three Weeks Old Today

Image
Sarah is just getting cuter and cuter today. After the first picture was taken and I though wow, what a sweet baby, she gave a big bar bum burp. That's my girl. :) Some three week mile markers are that Sarah is sleeping five to six hours at a time at night and on average I'm getting at least seven to eight hours of sleep at night. We took a nap together today for a couple of hours. Dan only gets five to six hours himself since he leaves so early. We really hope to get closer to his work soon. Also Sarah is starting to understand that when the bottle leaves her mouth to burp it is coming back eventually and we are not torchering her or at least when I feed her. ;) Also, she has been going to sleep on her own in her bassinet a few times. She is really liking her swing now. She loves kisses. I know it is a blurry picture, but those feet are just to cute and its the best picture I could get. They don't stay still very long. Now that we are getting settled into havin...

Tidbits and God time on the Go

Here is a picture of Sarah, AKA Gumby. How do they sleep like that? I can't even get my head into that position. I'm not that stretchy. Gotta love that look of peace though. Thank you to those who e-mailed me phone numbers. Too those wonderful people whose phone numbers are lost, I'm sorry our friendship has to end like this. I'll never call you again because I don't have your number or any way to contact you. It was nice knowing you while it lasted (cue big sigh and a single lonely tear, gaze off into the sunset). OK so there is still hope. Dan did get the phone on though it doesn't do anything but just say Samsung. Hopefully we can at least retrieve info off of it. There are cute pics of Sarah also. Speaking of Sarah, we took her to church for the first time this morning. I didn't take her out of the car seat though. I'm not ready for people to be loving on her yet. I can barely handle the sleep deprivation of a healthy baby so just the t...

I need some new ideas!

I am looking for tips on how to keep active in my relationship with God. Having a baby in the house means no more idle Bible reading and prayer journal writing. Even as I write this, I am having to stop and tend to my precious little wee one. So please let me know some tips and hopefully other readers can be blessed by your ideas as well. If you aren't up for commenting on this post, you can also e-mail your ideas. Thank you in advance for helping a new mommy stay strong in her walk. Love ya all! Update: Check out Link of the day. It is a cute little article.

Post Pregnancy Brain well at work

I left my cell phone in my bathrobe last night when I washed it after Sarah spit up all over it. I was was able to transfer phone number to Dan's old Palm. I was not able to transfer the contact list so if I had your phone number then please go to e-mail on side bar and e-mail your phone number to me. Thank you very much

Then & Now

So here I was two weeks ago on a Sunday night before God brought me the best present ever. My very own little Peanut. Yes I realize just about everyone calls their baby a Peanut, but I can't help it. What else would I call her, a Cashew. It just doesn't have the same ring. My parents went home yesterday and now I am officially the primary caregiver for this little human being. I have to say I am very very thankful for my mom, because I now have (knock on wood) a baby that is pretty good about sleeping through the night. Its pretty nice. I love our mornings together so now we officially have our nights together. Boy, two weeks in and I'm only now getting her at night. Can't get much better than that. I really am blessed to have had the time to really recoup from my c-section. The bruising around the incision was worse that the incision. I can't wait to start walks every day and exercising to get my muscles back to somewhat useful. My abs are just useless...

Part 1 Kissie Monster and Bathtime Part 2 an observation on suffering

Wow, so on with the learning curb of parenting. Note to new moms and dads, don't top your baby off when bottle feeding just because there is a little left in the bottle. Trying to give that little bit means a lot in your lap, shirt, her shirt, and every where else for that matter. Poor Baby Girl got such a tummy ache because Mommy wanted to give her the last little bit. Mmmm, don't think I'll be doing that again...hopefully. So far having Grammie here means sleep filled nights for Mommy and Daddy. I think I will be quite sad when Grammie and Papa (who flies in today for a few days) will be going back home next week. :( I am thankful though I have had my mom here for this long amount of time and she has helped me a whole lot getting accustumed to my wee babe. She is now well aquainted with the Kissie Monster, "You are my Sunshine" and "Jesus Loves You". She hates her baths and much prefers being clothed. Her daddy thinks that is just fine and ho...

My Precious

I'm back! I can't believe I'm a mommy. Sarah is so precious. Having had a c-section has been difficult since it has really kept me from carrying her and feeding her. thankfully my mom is here and Dan had last week off plus a bit of a snow day yesterday. He worked from home so just his presence was nice. Dan's mom was here last week and its a good thing she left when she did. As it was, she had to rent a car to get home because the last part of her flight was canceled. Fortunately she only had a three hour drive home. It was so so nice having my MIL here. She is such a great lady. No amount of telling or anything else can prepare a person for what its like to have a baby. As soon as I heard Sarah cry in the operating room, I began to cry. I'm absolutely hooked. She was absolutely worth the wait. I certainly have not forgotten about Adam and Charis. They are still in my heart. Now Sarah has her own special place in my heart. She is just captivating. Sun...
