Those four gals from Matthew chapter 1, I'de invite them over for Chi Tea

Image
This week, Miss Wiggles will be 1! The big 1! Oh the amazing blessing she is. Miss Wiggles, you delight me with your laughter, warm my heart with your happy sighs, excite me with your singing and tickle me with your dancing. I joyfully eat the slobber covered food you feed me and engage you in conversation though I don't know what your saying. Daddy loves his Saturday morning time with you and though you don't know it sometimes I'm not sleeping in. I'm laying there quietly listening to you and Daddy on the moniter laughing and smiling at your antics. How could I be this blessed. Hubby just informed me "I'de" isn't a word. Well, it is now and if ain't can make it into the dictionary.... This morning our interim pastor talked about Rahab. You know how I love Rahab. I've really been trying to get to know her and the other three gals mentioned in Matthew chapter one. I would love to some time do a series on it. Maybe sometime. Here are some...

I'm a little Audrey Channel

Image
I recently found this quize, which style icon are you most like on the Daily Glow. I loved it because I actually felt like I could answer the questions honestly and of course it said I'm most like Audrey Hepburn. I love Audrey Hepburn! Judging from some of the questions, my hypothosis is I like pearls like Coco Chanel and I know Audrey didn't do loose undone curls (which I am working towards getting). I used to be so purposeful about my style. Now, well, I have two people to get dressed everyday and even less amount of time than I used to. I do need to work on not venturing into the realm of What Not to Wear candidate which I'm getting dangerously close to. Umh, I need to go work out and take a shower, not just take a shower because of the work out, I need it anyway.

So, I have this super bad habit that is very not endearing.

I am going to confess something. Mostly because I just left a comment on another blog that made me think of it. So I have this trait that is super annoying that has deemed me the nickname Norton from Hubby. Norton because Norton is owned my Symantec and Symantec sounds a lot like semantics . That's the annoying habit, the semantics . Without even thinking about it, I correct my husband's pronunciation or recalling of events or use of words. Go ahead, tell me a joke, I will probably analyze it first. I try to be goofy but that generally is the result of being nervous. You know that character on Bones, the annoyingly literal bone lady? Well at least she is a genius. I'm not. so that makes my a super duper hypocrite correcting Hubby and anyone else that I forget myself and correct. I am a terrible speller and have no room to talk (or write I guess) as I'm sure ya'll have figured out if you have read my block for any length of time. So that is my conf...

Coastal Living and Teething...they don't have anything to do with each other.

I won my first give away recently. I'm super excited. Sarah at A Beach Cottage was doing a give away of Magazine subscriptions to Coastal Living . I love Coastal Living magazine because while many other home magazines leaving me feeling like my house isn't good enough, Coastal Living always inspires me and I come away saying, "I can so totally do that!". I mean, seriously, add some white paint to just about anything and Ta Da a coastal home or cottage. Anyway, Coastal Living Magazine always inspires me to something that is attainable rather than inspiring me then breaking my DIY heart. No Coastal Living isn't paying me to write that, however if they wanted... :) Umh, anywho, on to other things. Poor Miss Wiggles is teething something fierce and what ever teeth she is trying to break free are no where in site. I am at a loss as to how to help her out. My poor baby girl looks so miserable. We do Orajel, Motrin, lots of lovies and that is about it. She doe...

Wow, so some of Jesus grandmothers; a prostitute, an adulteress, interacial marriages?

Image
I love that Jesus was so radical more so, God is radical. Or is it that we are radical as in radically off base about the God we follow? The four women mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew chapter one makes reference to four of Jesus' great great great....grandmothers. Tamar: Canaanite woman widowed two times over disguised as a prostitute to get pregnant by her father-in-law (Genesis 38) who upon finding out she was pregnant by him said, "She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn't giver her to my son Shelah." Are you confused? Does that make sense? Its definitely something to chew over. If I'm leaving out details, you know its on purpose to get you to go read it. You won't regret it. The story is awesome on so many levels. Rahab: a prostitute from Jericho (Joshua 2) who is the mother to Boaz Ruth: a Moabitess (those people born of a daughter getting her father drunk and getting pregnant as a result) widow of an Israelite who then marries Boaz.(b...

Following and assisting balanced with leading and molding

Hubby gave me a Pink dragon for Valentines Day. As I was about to drift off to sleep for a rare Sunday afternoon nap, I found that this little pink dragon loves kisses, can sing and dance to Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA. She, though it is a manly yet high pitched voice, wanted to snuggle in and nap with me, which she did for three hours. We were tired. Who wouldn't be after partying in the USA. Any one else out there disturbed that Hubby knows the words to Party in the USA? Thank the LORD, literally, that he is done with that almost two hour commute. Another of his favorite singers is Lady GAGA. On to other topics. I've been wondering about toys and how to help Miss Wiggles utilize that small amount of time she has that she is awake these days. We have lots of toys but she doesn't utilze half of them. There are a lot of things that are just that, things. They are toys that are just toys. We do have some that are more usefull, things that will help her grow her mind and...

Beauty is now wasted on the youth, at least not these youth.

Image
Oh how I wish I could convey it. By "it" I mean that thing my church in Richmond Virginia has. That wonderous fire in their hearts from God that leads them forward, makes them strive to be different. My time there developed friendships with people three times my age as well as some friends not yet even old enough to drive. I treasure these friendships and thank God, literally, for Facebook that connects us as I am now in another season of my life miles away from their beautiful smiles, their open and grace filled embraces. Today I will be making the trek and taking those precious pieces of jewelry hand crafted by the hands of the youth at Friendship Baptist Church to the Richmond CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates of foster children to give them the jewelry to give to the foster kids. I have yet to be so proud of anyone as I am of these youth. I've seen their minds know no bounds in their kindness making food for "shut ins" and raising money for Breast C...

In answer to the question post....

Image
I had put myself out there and let ya'll ask me questions. Well, Sharon from Just Saying... certainly did not disappoint. Sharon, why couldn't you just ask what my favorite kind of ice cream is? OK, I'm going to try to answer these questions. What is your greatest fear? Your greatest thrill?...aside from the wonder of God? and your hubby and Miss Wiggles of course. Whoa, my greatest fear? You know, I have a very deep faith so I have no fears. OK, I'm just kidding. My greatest fear is that though I know if I die, I will be with God for eternity because of Jesus Christ, my fear is leaving Miss Wiggles and Hubby without me. I fear this even more than if I lost either of or both of them. Leaving Miss Wiggles without a mommy knowing how important my mommy is to me. Yeah, that would be it. My greatest thrill really does align with God, Hubby and Miss Wiggles. There was the time I chose God and walked away from a relationship in high school that was headed for sex. That was a...

My flip flops are gonna need therapy due to abandonment issues.

All the snow has left us to be inside a bit more than we like. It snowed all furiously this morning. This afternoon you wouldn't be able to tell it. Strong strong winds blew it mostly away after it stopped. Interesting. I'm looking forward to getting some new flip flops, dusting off my shorts and tank tops and transitioning to a much more colorful purse. Can't wait....but don't have a choice. I once loved to paint. Now that I am done painting all the trim in my family room and kitchen including two big windows as well as painted the kitchen walls and the library walls and my office walls and the below the chair rail area in the Dining room...I do not like painting anymore. We have shuttered sliding closet doors on our laundry closet and the pantry. I painted those. I didn't enjoy it. What I do enjoy is walking around the house holding Miss Wiggles hand as she practices with stiff legs. Today she seemed a little less into it than yesterday. She loves walk...

A little about me, go ahead ask me a question.

Image
Isn't Miss Wiggles awesome? The two teeth on top are still not out yet, so these cute smiles are rare today. Being a baby is difficult work sometimes. :) I recently signed onto Lynnete Kraft's Getting to Know You blogger list. The link is to the right just below my profile. I have met so many great bloggers, I am always looking to get to know more. Then I thought, I want to get to know the bloggers I know better. Then I thought maybe I might share a little about me but what? What don't ya know? Well, I'm going to try something I've seen on other blogs but haven't tried until now for fear of no one asking a question and then looking just goofy for doing it. I'm jumping out on the limb. If there is anything you would like to know, please feel free to ask me a question via comment. I will answer all your questions.

Not much longer...

This is to remind all of us East coasters that there will be a day this cold gloomy weather does have an end, flip flops will come out of their hybernation and bare shoulders will be kissed by the sun once again. I can't wait!

Miss Wiggles, a Before and After (or almost after, more in the process really) and a giveaway!

Image
Before we get to the before and after (or in the process of) pictures I want to share with you a different sort of before and after. We all love a good before and after I'm sure. Well, this morning in Bible Study we wrapped up our study into the book of Ruth. We delved into Naomi and her before and after story. There is a woman who went from hopeless to blessed among women. After her husband and two sons died she even changed her name to reflect her devastated state. By the end of the book however she was full beyond measure holding her grandson and praising the Lord. That isn't even the final after. Her grandson is the grandfather of King David, one of the greatest grandfathers of Jesus. Leave it to God to go above and beyond expectation in His redeeming story. We also were made aware of the only four women mentioned in the geneology of Jesus in Matthew chapter one; an adulteress, a prostitute, a foreigner and a woman who concieved her son via her father in law. Now don't ...

To have a niche or not have a niche.

Image
There are a lot of blogs out there, and most have their niche. Do I have a niche? Well, when I get a misquitoe but I guess. Ok, that wasn't funny. Seriously though, I've wondered often if I should. I've done this now long enough to accumulate over 500 posts. I blog about family, Jesus, my house and well most anything. I've had guess bloggers write about Jesus, parenting, writing. I've commented on stuff in the news, book reviews and my cat. I'm all over the place people! I love the bloggers who write for the love of writing, bloggers who share their junk finds and DIYs. There are the blogs that inspire me and encourage my relationship with Jesus, my husband and give tips on being a better parent. Truth is my interests are divers, I live spherically and every attempt I've made at a niche blog last about a week. I'm sure all my dedicated blogger buddies remember how September was going to be a big month or how Mondays was a Not about me Monday th...

What was up with that commercial with Tebow and his mom?

Image
I wondered that question as I made my way over to the Focus on the Family website this morning. The story is right there on the front page as told by Timmothy Tebow's parents. I highly recommend watching it. Church was cancelled again for the second week in a row. Hubby and I were super bummed about that. I asked Hubby what part he would miss the most and he said going and worshiping God. I agreed and then we agreed we would do a Bible study on our own when Sarah took a nap. That never happened. He did his thing and I did my thing all day. At the end of the day as we folded laundry, we answered that question again. Then it hit us. If we missed the worship part why didn't we do it or did we just miss the socializing (or in Christianeze, fellowship). Oh, burn! We were convicted. Of course socializing or fellowship is crucial or Jesus wouldn't have surrounded himself with his 12 bros and then some for three years. Watching the Tebow parent's interview reminded me of some i...

And I thought Miss Wiggles was sleeping 12 hours a night.

Image
I guess I need to keep a closer eye on that one. ;) Happy weekend ya'll!

A post with a life of its own!

Image
I did just post some new pics of my new home. I love decorating, but for now I will take a break from that. Miss Wiggles is finally getting the hang of the camera. I point and she poses. What a hoot! Before I go on though with non house stuff, I really want to ask for some prayer because the guys that came to clean our air ducts found that there is no moisture barrier under the house (plastic layed on dirt foundations to keep moisture from hosting mold and mildew). At this moment the dirt foundation is a big muddy mess under there. This people is not good, very very not good. I have been having problems since we've moved in with breathing and things. Hubby is also stuffed up as is Miss Wiggles. I really don't want to move again so please pray this is easily fixed. The property management company is always really fast at getting things fixed, so it will be taken care of fast. Continued over exposure to mold though isn't a good thing. Wow, ya'll are quick. Just finishe...

Updated pictures of the breakfast nook

Image
Yeah, I love staging. This is my cozy breakfast nook. This is my little breakfast nook (please ignore the lamp cord, don't yet know how to hide that, maybe duct tape?). Thank you to The Shabby Chic Cottage for the idea to put a pillow on my chair. Gives it a more cozy feel I think. Meticulosity: extreme attention to detail

Now that its all out of boxes, where do I put it! Urg!

Image
Now that "most" everything is unpacked and "most everything has found it's place there is the task of finishing touches. There is this book case from Ikea that I want in white for my Family Room. There are these silk curtains from Restoration Hardware I want for, well, everywhere. There are these number pillows from Potter Barn I want to make my next DIY project. This rug from Crate and Barrel would look great in the library (which is the formal living room turned Hubby's office). Obviously those, with the exception of Ikea (over three hours away so maybe not an exception) I can't afford to shop in these places. With my Bed Bath and Beyond coupon, Ikea on line, overstock.com, Wal-Mart, Target and Cost Plus World Market, I will get this house to be my home. Unfortunately I'm at this increasingly frustrating place where there are still random boxes to unpack "most" of every room is unpacked. Basically it is that stinky place of almost settled b...

This and That

I'm starting to think being a normal renter is better than this kind, whatever it is, that I am. We painted the kitchen though I've been at it since Saturday, it still isn't done. I'm moving on to my office now. I can't wait to get focused back on jewelry. I'm so over painting. Last night my middle finger on my right hand kept locking. I think it was letting me know what it thinks of my making it do all this painting. :) I don't know how much you all know about duct cleaning. We need ours clean. The guys to do it were here today to do it but left because they couldn't get their equipment through the snow to the back of the house to get under the house to do it. That stinks. Our floor vents have piles of yuck in them and the two air vents are safety hazard dirty. This all explains our crazy sinus issues, including Miss Wiggles who has had the worst runny nose. I'm sure her little honker can't keep up with all the dirt, dust and what be...
