My Time at the Beach

It has been my week long desire to write to you all about the wonderful women's retreat that I attended last weekend in Nag's Head, North Carolina. I'm kicking myself for not taking my digital camera. Before I share with you what God shared with me through all those wonderful ladies, I have to say that I would have shared this with you sooner but between Satan's attacks and my struggle with PMS I am only now surfacing from the battle. I want you to know for those who I have been blessed by your prayers that they were hard at work. I won't go into all the details, but needless to say, I was reminded of how important it is to take care of my body and my well being. I very much lack the discipline to do the exercise and eat the right foods among other things. Thank you for your prayers. So! about prayer! Wow, this past weekend was so so so much fun! I was able to spend some time talking with and getting to know women of all ages and places in life. They were such...

The Peru Meteor

Hello all my friends! I have not forgotten about you. I have found out that the harmless meteor in Peru hit ground water that contained arsenic. Thirsty any one? When the hot meteor met with the ground water, it caused steam that made locals ill. Another mystery solved.

Meteor makes villagers ill.

How crazy is this. It is an article I found on Yahoo. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070918/sc_afp/peruhealthoffbeat "Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said Monday. Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia . Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP. Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said. Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said loca...

Go stripes!

This morning I went to my first training class for the Resource Pregnancy Center in Richmond. I suppose I will put their website on my blog as well. It was really good though to be their learning some new things and getting refreshed on others. I am looked foreword to the next six weeks getting my counseling "tools" sharpened. I am really looking foreword to jumping back into the ministry. It's going to be good. In the mean time I am working on painting the guest bathroom. I am framing the mirror with blue and chocolate brown stripes while the rest of the bathroom will be tan. I might just go crazy with the bathroom. We will see. If all goes well with the bathroom, I may venture out and put some style into my painting all over the house. I am thinking stripes because well, I've never met a stripe I didn't like. :)

Not alone

Monday and Tuesday I was able to spend some time with friends in Hampton. I really enjoyed the kick off Tuesday morning for the Beth Moore study of the Tabernacle. I have to say seeing all those dear wonderful ladies was like espresso shots to my spirit. As I go through the process of finding my place here in Richmond, it is great to reconnect with so many women who are so dear to my heart. Especially since I miss my family so. I can't wait until Thanksgiving when I can see my family. This leads me to what I wanted to blog about. It's actually something I really feel led to share. It's about the fear of being left out, left behind, and forgotten. I want to be a little vulnerable. Moving to a new place is not easy. I don't think I even slept very well last night. I think that D was about ready to go to the guest bedroom. I tossed and turned all night. Over the last few weeks, being in this new place, my fear of being left out, left behind, and forgotten has bee...

Clarification

I was just rereading my last post and it appeared to me my attempt at a creative phrase pertaining to a shopping bag of ideas for future projects may portray that I actually bought something at these over priced stores. It may just be my paranoia but I want to just mention I meant a mental shopping back as in I didn't buy anything at all that day. Anyway, I'm sure you all got that, I was just thinking I sounded kind of like I was bragging or something.

The History of Things

This Labor Day was just wonderful. Our friends N & P came up from Newport News to spend Sunday evening and Monday with us. We had a great time relaxing on the deck eating salmon then relaxing over tea, coffee and fresh out of the oven brownies. The next morning after breakfast of eggs and bagels, we hopped in the car and headed off to downtown Richmond. The train station is a definite stop on any tourist trip. The building is quite old over a hundred years and has been renovated. I can imagine it as a perfect place for a fundraiser or banquet for the pregnancy center. I am really looking foreword to getting connected with that particular non-profit organization here in Richmond. Anyhow, after that we walked around a bit then headed up to an artist area near VCU and had lunch. I guess VCU is a big art school and the area seemed to really reflect that. Each of the store fronts were painted different bright colors. I noticed a few Labor day revelers with pooches in tow. We...
My wonderful hubby and I spent a good seven hours outside today working on the yard, garage, and walk-in crawl space. I only received a total of eight mosquito bites. The grass had gotten pretty long in a couple spots but now after D's expert mowing and edging skills, the grass looks perfect. The front flower bed by the road is also free of grass and weeds now. We worked on that one together. There are a lot of potted plants besides the plants in the flower beds, so everyone needed water. Some were looking rather wilted I admit. There are also about seven or eight house plants around the inside of the house as well. Who ever lived here before us left all her plants. I can tell she must have liked gardening. I personally am not a fan of house plants in my house. I love them in other people's houses, but I don't care to take care of them. I have seen a couple of gnats flying around which makes me eager for them to go. But back to the outside of the house. I love ...
