A note from Sarah

Image
Hello again my followers... I mean Mommy's blog friends. I just wanted to let you know I am doing good today. Its to early to tell, but the new formula seems to be working. I seem to have an appetite again. Though I didn't have much of an appetite there for a while, I did gain two pounds since my last check up and now am 13 pounds. My mommy and daddy have taken to trying to make me smile lately. They do a good job. Mommy said that I make her a morning person since I always wiggle and smile at her first thing in the morning (and since I've been letting her sleep all night). I have just about given up my pacie...for my thumb! Mommy and Daddy tried real hard to stop that, but I won the battle. I heard Daddy say its ok though because I am sleeping better 'cause there isn't any worry for my pacie falling out. Mommy said she likes my strong will. She's so in for it. ;)

Venting and Reading

I want this house to sell I can hardly stand it! We have now had five showings and one more scheduled this evening. There has been interest which the realtors say is good, but dude! I don't want interest, I want an offer! A good one! I'm praying and praying. Ok, I realize the interest is better than no interest and six showings is better than none. It is supposed to help us think positively that this house will sell quick. Being impatient by nature...because well, I'm human, I am already considering that if we have to look at lowering the cost then I rather do a bit of a remodel on the kitchen if its less expensive than lowering the price. I know some of what we could do would be tile the kitchen, change the cabinet doors or even just paint them. The counter tops are good and the cabinets sans the doors are good. Oh, I just don't know. I see now why the home buying and selling process is so stressful. You know it is in the top ten stressors...if not the top five. Ok wel...

Sarah Laughing on Sunday

Way Back Wednesday

Image
Way back when we were just dating in the fall of 2003. Wow where life has taken us. Its been an awesome journey.

This weekend, Take 2

Writing a post at ten o'clock at night may not be such a good idea. Now that I think about it, I think of written that here before. Sigh. When will I learn. Here is a better recap of this past weekend. Sarah did indeed have a bad tummy on Sunday, but my wise friend Natalie helped us through it. Sarah looks awesome in her new crib and sleeps better. So much better that after going to bed at eight, she slept the entire night with no interruptions. I am happy for her because I know she needed the sleep...and Dan and I also like the extra uninterrupted sleep. Our friend's Natalie and Phil had an awesome get together at the house Sunday. It was great to see people we haven't seen in a while. I got giddy inside thinking about how I will soon be able to see them more often soon. They really are awesome people. I a bummed I didn't get to see John and Leah but soon enough, soon enough I will see them again. Best laid plans come undone, but I'm stubborn and tenac...

What happened and what made it all better

Wow, wow, wow. I would say I have no words but then you wouldn't know what I'm talking about so I better get some. First off we planned to stay at a friends house Friday night but then we had a showing and getting a baby ready for an over night outing overwhelmed us. We ended up not going but rescheduling for Sunday night. Because of this we had to cancel with some other friends we haven't seen in a long long time and miss very very much. That was rescheduled for Sunday night after the barbecue we were invited to. So Sat. we put Sarah's crib together because I found her as such in the previous post. Well, Sunday we went to the barbecue early to spend time with other friends we also love dearly who were also the host and hostess of said barbecue. Well almost emmediately after we arrived the new and improved super easy to handle Sarah started screaming and crying bloody murder. Dan and I were beside ourselves with what the heck was wrong, fortunatelly Natalie our f...

A Post from Sarah

This is me with Daddy and my new crib. With Mommy's help, Daddy put it all together. Here I am in all my cuteness (Mommy taught me to be proud of my body so I freely admit, I'm cute). Here I am recreating for the camera how Mommy found me this morning and why Mommy told Daddy it was time to get the crib put together. It is as uncomfortable as it looks.

Crazy days and the eager beaver villager

So today went way away from what we had planned. I went to run some errands before we headed off to spend the night at our friends Erin and Manny's house. Then a we needed to vacate the house which meant Dan had to leave (who was working from home) so he couldn't finish what he needed to do before we left. It was finally 7pm before we were able to leave so we decided to change that to Sunday night after the BBQ with our friends Phil and Natalie. Did you follow all of that? If not, then join the club that is our life lately. I admit I hit a wall and my stress level made me quite inconsolable there for a minute...a lot like Sarah when all she wants is to go to bed...which she hit at the exact same moment. Enough complaining. So while with my family this past week I realized in the saying, "It takes a village." I am the eager beaver villager who likes to help others parent a little too much. While with my SIL, Laura, her daughter, T bonked her sister, J, over th...

I'm thankful for that Thursday.

Image
My blogger buddy, Nicole O'Dell does a Thanksgiving Thursday. I think that sounds like a great idea. 1. My mom gave me two angels from her angel collection to put with my family portrait for Adam and Charis. I'm thankful for that. 2. My SIL made sure not to wish me Happy 1st Mother's Day last week because she said she knew it wasn't my first Mother's day. I'm thankful for that. 3. I spent a great week with my family, playing in the pool with my nieces, having all that care for Sarah and me while I had such a bad cold. I'm thankful for that. 4. I made it home Tuesday. I'm thankful for that. 5. Sarah never caught my cold. I'm thankful for that. 6. Dan loves Sarah, spends all the time he can with her, sings Amazing Grace every night while he feeds her and puts her to bed..every night. I'm thankful for that. 7. Dan is structured and disciplines which keeps my structured and discipline...

Home Sweet Home

Update: Oh my home sweet blessed home. After I wrote this post only an hour or so ago, I was reminded of some other moments, mine and others that put my so called moment of strength yesterday to shame. My mom gave me two of her angels from her angel collection to put with our family portrait to represent our angel babies, Adam and Charis. I miss my babies and hold Sarah that much tighter. I read through the recap on Kayliegh's memorial Service. You can read it if you click on her blog button on my side bar. I didn't cry yesterday. Today I did for Kayleigh. I read my dear friend April's blog as she shared her faith building experience being in the hospital as her daughter had surgery and the feelings it brought back when she was in the hospital with her baby, Eli. Right now, Eli, Kayliegh, Adam, Charis as well as Angel, Hope, and my baby cousin, Scott and Laura's daughter are dancing around Jesus thrown. After yesterday's journey I made it to my home sweet ...

Feeling better

I am feeling so much better! I was in rare form writing that last post. Being sick will do that to me. Congestion is almost completely gone. Sarah seems to not have gotten my cold. She had a low grade fever earlier but that was probably mostly the heat and all the people passing her around. Once I took her upstairs and it was the two of us and then she spent some time alone in the bassinet she was much better. She went to sleep very easily. I haven't had her with me at night this whole trip, but tonight I think I will just keep her in my room. Sarah is so great letting everyone hold her and love on her. Her cousins just adore her. They all fawn all over her. I love it. I will have a pictures soon to show you. I have had so much fun just playing with all my nieces and nephew. Gavin absolutely loves baby Sarah. I got a picture of him holding her. It was precious. Gavin is very much just like his daddy. It was so great to see my family this trip. My soul was so thi...
I will take this moment to monumentally complain. My brother, Justin has worked really really hard to get to this day. He is walking the stage graduating for Arizona State University. Sarah and I flew all the way from Virginia to Arizona to see him walk the stage. Well, I did, Sarah came along for the ride. Where is the complaint you ask? My whole family is right now at the ceromony. Sarah is at my mom's good friend's house who lives a couple houses away. I am right now alone experiencing a head cold so bad my teeth hurt and I have uncontrollable snot dripping from both completly stopped up sinuses. While holding Sarah this afternoon I actually dripped snot on her cute little forehead. I am praying with all my might she doesn't get this. Fat chance she won't with me dripping snot on her. Poor baby girl. Why all the TMI? I'm sick people! I need an outlet to complain. It is an unfortunate symptom of colds, a need to complain. Oh yeah, and cranky. Sil...

FWD: FWD: FWD: FWD: From a fellow FWD:er

Update: Humbled once again. Dan informed me it is not FWD: but actually just FW: In my defense though, my spell check isn't bothering the FWD: but currently my FW:s have red lines under them (so does my isn't but that isn't here or there :). I get a lot of forwards during my day. Some are just hilarious and some are well...not. I love the animal ones and the ones that inform me of important things.... well when they are true. I recently read a Dear Prudence that posed the question of forward etiquette and whether its okay to tell someone to stop sending forwards. I like a lot of them that I get (well unless they are the chain mail sort, then not so much) so I'm good with receiving them. Prudence explained that in the decision to say stop or not, you can simply delete the message, it only takes a second so get over it. I thought that made sense. As far as forward etiquette, she explained at least remove the FWD: and past recipient e-mail addresses in the e-mail. ...

Great weekend and a great week to come.

Update: Oh how my daughter likes to humble me. As soon as I posted this post, Sarah started crying. Consider me humbled. This Lil Fam had quite the weekend let me tell ya! Dan, Sarah and I went spending on Saturday like crazy. We bought new rugs, towels and couch pillows to spruce the house up. We also bought a crip and mattress. I decided we were not going to get a bumper pad for the crib but my sister was very generous to give us some money to help pay for that so we bought the crib which is great, because the closer we got using the crib we have the less we wanted to use it. Dan got a new pair of shoes and I got a new hair cut. (Pictures later). Dan also bought some stuff to reface the bathroom counter tops upstairs which will be great. He is also going to tile the master bathroom. Kitchens and master bathrooms sell homes and that master bath needed an upgrade big time to make it appealing. When is he going to do this work? When Sarah and I are in Arizona to see my cooler...

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out their, the biological ones, the heart ones, the adopted ones and the ones with empty arms, the waiting ones and the quiver full ones. My heart thinks upon you this Mother's Day.

My book review

Image
The book The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews has really been an awesome book. Dan and I both have read it numerous times going back and reading the letters included in it's pages. Here is a description from Andy Andrews website. A divine adventure is about to unfold . . . Only a few months ago, he was a successful executive. Now he's a desperate man. Join David Ponder on an incredible journey to discover the Seven Decisions for success that can turn any life around, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem to be. In times of great uncertainty, we need divine wisdom. Many of the greatest minds throughout history have overcome personal struggles and diversity and emerged stronger for it. What guidance would iconic heroes like Abraham Lincoln, King Solomon, and Anne Frank give us in today's ever-changing world climate? One of the reasons I like this book is the fictional story in which the Seven Decisions for Success is presented. Andy Andrews does not merely tell th...

Don't Go Chuck!

Image
I love the show Chuck. It is Dan's and my favorite show. Its what we do Monday nights. The season finale for Chuck was last week and the big guys in charge aren't sure if it will come back. The characters are awesome. Captain Awesome specifically is my favorite. He is such a hoot.

Encourage each other to encourage each other

I have a servants heart. I don't mind saying this because I don't see it as bragging because on the same note, I don't have a leaders heart. I've tried but lacking much internal structure, setting personal deadlines...well, I have a servants heart. That said, I have been contemplating how to give help to others when my own life demands so much. I'm brainstorming. Here are some ideas. A small note on pretty stationary in the mail takes no time, costs pennies and is utterly priceless. Our mail boxes are riddled with bills and junk mail. I love getting letters in the mail. A rare but precious gift. I cook dinner for my family so why not just double the recipe while I'm at it and take the rest to a friend that I know could use the dinner making break. E-mails, seriously I get so many forwards that tell me how special I am only I'm like one of ten or so people receiving the e-mail. So if you forward take the extra minute and at least delete the access stu...

My Monday

Here we go again! Another week. Whew! Good weekend though. Dan and I interviewed realtors, spent the weekend with good friends, went to church at our old church. We were so touched to see that once it got out that we were there, several people came searching for us and then we ended up going out with friends for lunch. It was good...yeah very good. I don't have a picture yet but Sarah has made it clear her new Minnie Mouse is her best friend. A good friend at our church in Chesterfield has claimed Sarah as a Grandbaby got it for Sarah at her recent trip to Disney Land (or World, I can never remember which one is which...I've never been to either one.) I'll try to get the picture I took with my phone. Its pretty cute. Sarah is 10 weeks now and officially when she wares Pampers is a size 1, no longer N, newborn. They grow so fast. She smiles but no laughing yet. She insists on a 7pm bedtime. I'm good with that. Don't keep her up later than 8pm though, s...

Blown tire and someone elses contest

Update: If I never suggest you read another blogs post again, I swear you need to read this one. I am humbled and in my heart something else is moved I would not even attempt to name or describe. So I'm driving out in the country yesterday and one of my tires basically blew out. There was a hole big enough to stick my thumb in. Bummer. So Dan came to rescue me...after the road side assistance dude came and fixed it and left. None the less, I'm always happy to see my hubby so...you know... no complaints there. Road side assistance is free anyway. We headed to Costco and got new tires for the back and all was well. I bought a pair of jeans at Costco and found out I bought what I thought was my size jeans only to find I'm two sizes bigger than the one size up for pre-pregnancy jeans. Well, until I got home and saw the jeans I bought were one size smaller than the pr-pregnancy jeans and felt better that I was just having pregnancy brain. Follow that? Good. I am als...
