Blown tire and someone elses contest

Update: If I never suggest you read another blogs post again, I swear you need to read this one. I am humbled and in my heart something else is moved I would not even attempt to name or describe.

So I'm driving out in the country yesterday and one of my tires basically blew out. There was a hole big enough to stick my thumb in. Bummer. So Dan came to rescue me...after the road side assistance dude came and fixed it and left. None the less, I'm always happy to see my hubby so...you know... no complaints there. Road side assistance is free anyway. We headed to Costco and got new tires for the back and all was well. I bought a pair of jeans at Costco and found out I bought what I thought was my size jeans only to find I'm two sizes bigger than the one size up for pre-pregnancy jeans. Well, until I got home and saw the jeans I bought were one size smaller than the pr-pregnancy jeans and felt better that I was just having pregnancy brain. Follow that? Good.

I am also shamelessly going to tell you that I am participating in a contest at What a Trip and Trivial Pursuits blogs because I want the extra chance to win. The prizes aren't big but I like Nicole a lot, consider her a blog friend so I participate. I think I will need to have a contest soon so keep your eyes peeled for that. :)

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. Here is a magnetic one I made for my fridgerator out of left over scraps from the window from last week . For the month of September, all my DIYs will be giveways. My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project. My first DIY Day! I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time. Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Inspiration

So, I am reading this book, $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything. Its just super inspirational. I like inspirational people. I have this friend, Kathrine who is the best sewing person, sewer or whatever you call it in the whole world. When inspiration strikes, she sews stuff.  I think that is freaking awesome. I have friends who have passions and they just go for it. Love it! My brother, Justin wanted to design toys. He did it. My brother and sister in love, Scott and Laura wanted to start a youth horse ranch. They are doing it. My husband was a sweet little country boy who wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. He did it. See the pattern? I like being inspired. So $100 Startup is a book full of people who find themselves not so much in a career or really intending to make it big but they just start down a path and do what they love.
