A few good news articles

Image
I read some good articles in the news this morning and thought I would post them to share with you. President Barack Obama has a brother named George in Kenya. George Obama has been arrested on drug charges. I'm just thinking that regardless of whether he really had drugs or not, corrupt police, government officials and other bad people may attempt to manipulate Obama through his brother. I hope that there are measures to keep him safe because I wouldn't be surprised to hear that some group has taken him hostage to attempt to gain control over Obama. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Burmingham England has decided to take the apostraphes out of street signs . Apperently the officials believe they are to confusing. One councile member, Martin Mullaney is quoted as saying, "...they confuse people. If I want to go to a restaurant, I don't want to have an A-level (high school diploma) in English to find it." Um, yeah, thats a counci member. Sounds like some...

God granted me more rope.

Okay, I'm feeling much better today. All it took was one good cry and vent session to my mom. Like I said, I'm glad she's here. Oh yeah, and lots of lovies from my hubby too. Today is Hubby's last day at his current job. Monday he starts the new one. I am so excited for him. I got him a present I'm sure he is to love. If your reading this Dan, skip this paragraph. Since his drive will be anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours he is looking for some good Bible studies, Sermons and Bible on CD to listen to. I found one on the Beth Moore blog written by her Son-in-Law Curtis. Its actually made for men's commutes to work so I knew it was just perfect. Tonight we will go out to dinner and celebrate. Okay, now Dan, you can rejoin us. After Sarah is settled in to our life, we will start working on selling the house and looking closer to work. If we could rent or sell the house to the guy who is taking Dan's place that would be awesome. At least rent whil...

Getting to the end of my rope.

This time last week I did a Thankful Thursday post, but its just not in me right now. I went to my doctors appointment yesterday, even had an ultra sound. The ultra sound lady said that she predicted a due date more like March 1 and let me tell you that put me in a very bad mood. The doctor said that wasn't really realistic since its hard to tell at this point and assured me that we're still keeping Feb. 23. I was only somewhat pacified. I want her to come early. I must have hit that pregnancy brick wall, because I'm tired of not being comfortable, not being able to do all the things I normally do. The only place comfortable is the guest bed and I hate not sleeping in my own room with Dan. So last night I just went up to the guest room at around 7:30 and laid there. I don't like being overly emotional and I so am right now. I know this will be over soon enough and Little Miss will be here with a whole new set of challenges. I am thankful for my mom being here....

What it takes to survive a crisis

Image
I found this really good article called, What it Takes to Survive a Crisis. It goes into the psychology surrounding why some people survive what seems unsurvivable and why some don't, as well as why some people seem luckier than others (or in the case of this picture, ducks). I think you will find it very eye opening. I definitely did so I want to share it with you. So just click on the title and read away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So there is this very gross thing about pregnancy (among others but I won't go into those) that I just don't think is right. I've decided instead of referring to a 'mucus cap' as...well...that, I am officially (as officially as I can) referring to it as the baby cap. Maybe this is TMI for some of you, but well, it was on my mind and I just thought I'd share. Your welcome. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My mom cleaned my house today. :) I helped a little bit, but only as much as she would le...

A snuggly evening

Image
I'm currently sitting here cozy on my couch. On my left is my Leo kitty sleeping and on my right is my Dan hubby sleeping. How cute. That's my Leo sleeping on my quilt. I saw someone use a picture of their cat as their focal point when they delivered their baby. I'm thinking about that as an option. I can't believe I just admitted that. This is my Leo kitty having a prayer time. If you have a cute caption, feel free to offer it up. :) This is my Dan hubby. I love him. He makes my heart all warm and fuzzy. I figured I put pictures of the cat on here, I better put Dan on here too. I love this man.

Gus Gus

Every girls dream is to grow up and be like one of the Disney Princesses or at least most girls anyway. I felt like Cinderella at times but always felt the closest bond with Belle. Well at this stage in my life I never thought there would be another Disney character I would feel such a kinship with. Gus Gus and I have something in common, our bellies are too big for our shirts. :)

Thankful Thursday

Image
Here is another fun day thing I found on the blog, What a Trip . I am going to write a list of things I am thankful for. If you have a blog, you can click on this link botton and go sign up yourself for this fun Thanksgiving Thursday. If not I would absolutely love love love it if you left a comment at the end of this post telling me and all who read here what you are thankful for today. Okay, lets get started! I am thankful... my time with God these past two mornings. He has spoken so clearly to me and I treasure His words in my heart. I prayed that I would my ears would hear what He hears and my eyes see what He sees and so in turn He gave me the verse, Matthew 16-17 in my e-mail inbox non the less; "But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. For truly I say to you that many a prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see and did not see it and to hear what you hear and did not hear it." He is so awesome. that it may be 30...

3rd Trip to Labor and Delivery

Image
I was bored and didn't know what to write about so I had Dan take me to the hospital again so I could post about it...just kidding. I had a stomach bug (not the flu) yesterday. This left me with some pretty serious serious chills at 2:30 in the morning. Never having had chills where I shook so bad my hands clenched at my chest, I did indeed have Dan take me to the ER. They did some tests, hooked me up to an IV of a lot of fluid and then sent me up to Labor and Delivery for a non-stress test for Sarah. Oh, yeah and in there I got an ultra sound and we saw Sarah sucking her thumb all kicked back like, yeah, I wasn't worried about her. Well, a surprise unplanned part of the non-stress test for me was when a doctor walked in and very seriously told me I would be having a C-Section at 8am. My face conveyed my shock clearly because the poor doctor's eyes got huge and he said, "Oh, your the stress test?" He numbly walked out and since Dan followed him out to go get...

Bad stomach bug

Update: My heart his grieving for an employee of Dan's. He has been having problems and recently nauseousness is one of them. He just called Dan to say he has gotten his diagnoses finally and it is leukemia. My heart just breaks. It puts my measly stomach bug in perspective. Please pray for this man. I won't write his name for now since I don't yet have permission for that. Original message: I am so thankful I have had Dan home with me to take care of me because I have had a very not fun stomach bug today. I haven't kept anything down. I'm afraid to try again to eat. So far just sips of water are good. I've got to stay hydrated. I don't have much else to share but this, but figured I would share it non the less. I swear if it isn't one thing with me, its another. ;)

Thankful Week Starters

Its Sunday again. Wow, what a week last week. Okay, time to gear up for next one. These weeks sure keep coming almost on top of each other. 1. Which is my first thankful. Its a three day weekend and my hubby is home with me and can go to my dr.'s appointment with me. Hey, that is three thankful things. :) 2. I am very thankful for prayer. Not only can I feel the prayer of others working in my life and the life of my family, I can see it working in others as well and I am encouraged to continue on praying, praying, praying. 3. I am thankful for all my friends. A lot of people called, e-mailed, texted and on-line chatted with me so I wouldn't go crazy Fri. having to be in bed all day alone (except Leo the cat, he is good company). 4 I am thankful for my baby shower on Sat. I had loads and loads of fun. I am thankful because I just love being with my friends, laughing and talking for hours. There were many moments of funnyness (ok, not a word, but I still mean it). I a...

A good update

I am doing well today. For the people who called me to check on me yesterday (and texted, and internet chatted and e-mailed), thanks for all the support. I did stay in bed all day yesterday I promise...well until Dan got home and we went to Sonic for dinner. :) Yum. So hey, I didn't even cook or nothin'. I am still having contractions but they are fewer and I don't feel them unless I'm poking my belly. Sarah is very very active which is a very good sign. I am so thankful for the internet 'cause I don't think I could handle the bed rest without it. One thing that would just make my day is if you happen to be stopping by here on the blog, leave a comment to say hey...or hello, whats up?, sup, hola, bonjour...you know, what ever. :) I am going to my baby shower today. I was offered to move it here but that sounded more stressful since I would be compelled to hostess or clean or something. I promise I will sit and just lounge in my chair or couch or where ev...

2nd trip to labor and delivery

Image
Update: Any one with a good tip for keeping my legs and hips from falling asleep while having to stay in bed please share! Original post: Yes I mean just what I wrote in the title. I spent all day yesterday in Labor and Delivery hooked up to monitors. It turns out I am having some very persistent "False Labor" that started Wed. evening and persisted on from there. These contractions are sporadic, very in length and time they come but do come often. I received two different kinds of medications to try and stop them while I was there, but neither med was successful. My contractions were labeled uterine irritability. Trust me, after having to lay on my side in an uncomfortable hospital bed all day, the irritability did not stay in just my uterus. That is why I take this opportunity to apologize to my parents and any one else who found out that indeed I do have a nasty attitude and its not pretty. Sorry about that. I was able to come home and sleep in my own bed fortunatel...

Epipetheo, a personal meditation on longing

Image
I have talked to many people as of late that this idea of longing has come to my mind time and time again. As I listen and watch others live their lives, I have been given the opportunity to peek into their hearts. Some willingly give up this information and others it is purely through the eyes of God's Holy Spirit. However it is, I never take it lightly. One dear friend has shared her struggles with where her path has gone, doing what is the farthest from her desire, crying at times from the sheer frustration of it. Another dear one I know, I have watched seek earthly thing after earthly thing, some fun thing to fill the need for fulfillment. These things are not bad but after a while, the pattern shows and I see there beneath is a desire to be filled, a desire to be complete, a space needing to be filled with in. I have watched some seek the quenching of their longing threw knowledge, threw relationships, threw hobbies, through work, threw acceptance from the world, threw ...

There's grout in that thar tile!

Image
We now have grout in our tile and it looks great! I can't wait to post on here the final result. I'm married to the best handyman in the world. Now if we could only get the kitchen sink to stop springing leaks every time we turn around. :) I'm all for replacing the whole dang thing and I know just the the guy for the job. :) Here is the tile master hard at work. You can't see it in the picture, but he's wearing a pair of old DCU pants (Desert Camo for those who don't know what that means). I'm so proud of him and the tile looks awesome. I now don't mind the cabinets as much as I did. Now I'm thinking with the new tile that the bathrooms need a bit of sprucing. Who's in for a visit to Target? Oh yeah! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While I'm at it, here are some other cool things to show off. This is an awesome spit up and drool rag from the Kiss & Koos baby line created by my very talented SIL, Julie. There are sev...

"Not Me" Monday

Image
I've never done a not me Monday but today I think I will. This is an idea from the blog of My Charming Kids and this wonderful mom, MCKMama has been awesome enough to share it with all of us. All of the "NOT"s are what I did do so basically this is my confession blog. If you think it is fun head over to My Charming Kids and get "Not me" Monday for yourself. So here I go. I did NOT go to a friends house last week only to NOT take a nap on her couch as soon as I got there. I did NOT put the Christmas stuff away only to NOT have to put my Christmas tree back together partially to NOT get a picture of Dan and me in front of it. My mom has NOT been reminding me to do this for the last two weeks. I did NOT forget every time she reminded me. When Dan was NOT ordained as a Deacon on Sunday I was NOT the only wife who needed a chair to sit on as the other deacon wives stood. My walk does NOT resemble a shuffle designated for people over the age of 100! I did NOT of...

Thankful Week Starters

Image
I thought I would post this Sat. night so you all can see it Sunday (if you read this Sunday or whenever). I did post this morning but what the hey, I'll post again. Its just like my sister's Sunday Gratitudes but I decided to give it my own title. I am thankful this week Dan is tiling our bathrooms. No more scary linoleum! I am thankful for hanging out with good friends Friday and sharing in all the awesome things God is doing in their lives. I am thankful that though its so rainy and cloudy with not much sun, and I miss warm sunny days, I live where there is rain and not drought (I'm working on being thankful for stuff I'm not so thankful for. This is my current effort; dreary weather.) I am thankful Sarah is growing, growing, growing. Lastly, I am thankful for the green fleece I bought Dan a few Christmases ago because now I wear it almost every day. ;) I would like to know any particular Bible verses that have been speaking to you lately. Please comment and let m...

A good weekend ending a good week

I have now done five loads of laundry for baby Sarah and have two more to go. I think it would be awesome to have as many clothes as she does. So far I have to say I am in love with all the strip and polka dot outfits the most. I have enough 0-3 clothes I could have twins and they would still have enough. Her room is getting to be just too cute. We already have her bassinet ready next to our bed. I just need to get sheets for it. Dan is still in tiling mode. All the tile cutting is done and now the mortar phase has started. I'm so proud of him. He really is one of the handiest men I know. I currently has his third bookcase in progress as well as my Christmas present. You read that right, my Christmas present isn't done yet. I suppose I should be getting it somewhere around our anniversary in July. :) At least that is what he told me. I'm just kidding. I don't mind the delay though because the tile really does need to be done soon. Christmas is officially p...

A few things

So a general blog rule is to post at the most every other day. I suppose it is so you can all keep up. Well, I gots lots ta say so y'all will just have to keep up. My sciatic nerve is doing so much better today. Waaahoooo! Thank you so much for your prayers. I feel a thousand times better. Its still tender but, hay, I will not complain while I can still move and feel my toes. My packages from Arizona came today. It felt like Christmas or rather a baby shower all over again seeing all the cute stuff (there will be pictures of some of it). I was awash in the renewed realization of how blessed I am by so many people who care not just about me but also this sweet little gift of mine. I am reminded that as much as she is mine she is also all of yours as well. I have found my chocolate replacement. My mom made peanut brittle using my grandfather's recipe for all of us kids for Christmas. Well I mailed it and today I have already eaten quite a bit. It is sooooo good. Not...

Week 33 Dr.'s visit

As many of you know, my sciatic nerve has been causing no end of trouble. I got almost no sleep last night because between the muscles tightening all the way to my toes and the Braxton Hicks contraction I just couldn't get comfortable. I went to my doctor today and she said all is good with Sarah. She gave me a prescription for a muscle relaxer and a sleep aid but I don't think I will take either one. There isn't anything to do for the sciatic nerve though but wait it out. It seems that last week Sarah must have dropped down and as a result made a nice head rest out of the sciatic nerve. Dr. D said it is possible she could move and that would fix it. So please pray she adjusts her position because, WOW, this hurts. I've still got a lot to do before Sarah comes, and no ability to do most of it. I can barely put my socks on let alone, grocery shop, vacuum or do anything that includes walking, sitting or leaning over. My only comfortable position is laying on my ...

My anti-aging secret

Image
As I near the end of this pregnancy I've gotten grouchy or as we call it in my house, I've become snorkel foot and a Brumble Putin (something my SIL Julie said sounds like Roaring Turkey in German...I say that is apra po and yes I'm sure I spelled that wrong). Things have gotten pretty serious around here. Much too serious. I have come to the conclusion that if I take myself seriously, I take others too seriously and if I am critical of myself, then I get critical of others. I also could age prematurely and though I think wrinkles are cool, I don't yet have any so here is my way of fighting aging. I call it the mushroom head. YES PEOPLE I WEAR A SHOWER CAP! It's purple and at the moment so is my shirt and my pants! With my big belly, you decide, am I a mushroom or Barney? I was going to add something profound.... but naaaa. Well, how 'bout you tell me something goofy about yourself because seriously (oh dang it) if I can put a picture of me on the internet in...

New tile for the bathrooms

Image
This is Dan in his workshop, aka the garage. Dan after putting down all the backer board. Where once a toilet was....... I guess it felt dirty..... who can blame it?

About 7 more weeks to go!

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I can't believe in about 7 weeks me, Katie, ME! I am going to have a little vulnerable, totally innocent baby completely dependent on me...ME! I hear the thought in my head that says I'm not old enough... accept I'm 29 and plenty old enough. Heck, I couldn't be more ready but oh, my gosh! The closer B-Day gets the more adrenaline I feel charging me. I am just so excited. I did my first loads of laundry this week of 0-3 month close (again Jordan you rock!, your the best cousin ever! Theres no way she will wear all the clothes you gave me, there is so many and so cute!) I learned baby clothes don't dry as fast as big people clothes. The loads definitely need to be smaller. Seeing all those cute little clothes in their places in the dresser is just precious. My dear dear friends here in VA are going to have a baby shower for me and I can't wait to celebrate with them. I am so eager to get everything put together I can hardly stan...
