Encourage each other to encourage each other

I have a servants heart. I don't mind saying this because I don't see it as bragging because on the same note, I don't have a leaders heart. I've tried but lacking much internal structure, setting personal deadlines...well, I have a servants heart.

That said, I have been contemplating how to give help to others when my own life demands so much. I'm brainstorming. Here are some ideas.

A small note on pretty stationary in the mail takes no time, costs pennies and is utterly priceless. Our mail boxes are riddled with bills and junk mail. I love getting letters in the mail. A rare but precious gift.

I cook dinner for my family so why not just double the recipe while I'm at it and take the rest to a friend that I know could use the dinner making break.

E-mails, seriously I get so many forwards that tell me how special I am only I'm like one of ten or so people receiving the e-mail. So if you forward take the extra minute and at least delete the access stuff that comes with forwarding, make it more personal and not like your passing on your junk mail. That said when your tempted to send your friends a forward to tell them how special they are, make your own e-mail and send that. Its much more personal, costs nothing and takes mere minutes. A friend, Cathy sent me an e-mail just to say hi. It made my day.

Text a friend. Calling is nice, but if you don't have time, just send a text. A friend of mine, Natalie texts me every once in a while to say hey. Its easy and you really don't have to stop what your doing.

My sister Michelle has sent me e-cards for no particular reason and that has always encouraged me. Once again only takes a couple minutes and its free.

Lastly, commit to pray specifically for one person for a week. A while back I bought an inexpensive throw blanket and gave it to a friend explaining that I would be covering her in prayer for the week and the blanket was her reminder.

So those are my ideas. I will commit to try these things and get back to you. I would love for you to comment and leave your own ways to simply help others. Lets make a difference, encourage each other to encourage each other. :)

I love your sweet ideas for encouraging people. I am a BIG fan of note-writing. And I love the picture of your baby girl in the sidebar - she is beautiful!
Katie,
Thank you for your prayers!
