An area where the U.S. has dropped the ball.

I just read an article that made me think shame on America for supposing its the most advanced and yet totally missing the mark on this one. No, it isn't health care, education or technology. Its the swimsuit competition in beauty pageants. Not something you thought you would find her on this blog? Yeah, its what you get when my post is getting out at five in the morning.

Seriously though. A young woman, Katrina Hodge in England convinced the Miss England pageant to drop the swimsuit competition for a sports competition. Every beauty pageant across the globe should be smacking their heads right now with a "Why didn't we think of that?" I am eager to see what Donald Trump's response to this. For a program that is supposed to be a scholarship program, this makes so much more sense. I would explain why it is more logical, but I can't come up with words partly because it is five in the morning and partly because its kind of a "duh" thing. Why don't I just explain why it makes more sense to drink water than beer when your dehydrated? I wouldn't because that would be stupid.

On another topic. Awesome things going on around here (that's my favorite word by the way). More on that later like as I wake up.

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. Here is a magnetic one I made for my fridgerator out of left over scraps from the window from last week . For the month of September, all my DIYs will be giveways. My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project. My first DIY Day! I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time. Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Inspiration

So, I am reading this book, $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything. Its just super inspirational. I like inspirational people. I have this friend, Kathrine who is the best sewing person, sewer or whatever you call it in the whole world. When inspiration strikes, she sews stuff.  I think that is freaking awesome. I have friends who have passions and they just go for it. Love it! My brother, Justin wanted to design toys. He did it. My brother and sister in love, Scott and Laura wanted to start a youth horse ranch. They are doing it. My husband was a sweet little country boy who wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. He did it. See the pattern? I like being inspired. So $100 Startup is a book full of people who find themselves not so much in a career or really intending to make it big but they just start down a path and do what they love.
