That Old Country Road

I found myself driving down an old country road yesterday. Miranda Lambert's House That Built Me playing on the radio, the gentle rain playing in the background, Miss Wiggles trying to fall asleep behind me. As I drove car behind me, car in front of me as far as my eyes could see, head lights on in the afternoon. I looked to my right at the deep Southern Georgia waters amid the trees covered in kudzu , a random body of water there in the country along an old country road. To my left were churches, traditional churches, white with steeples, cars parked in the grass. Our cars proceeded on. Hubby was up the way leading, the other men by his side, they either looked forward, silent waiting or heads down, shoulders shaking. Watching a grown man's shoulder's shake seems like walking in on something sacred, private, something I felt like an intruder watching. Never in all my life did I think I would be driving down an old country road in a funeral procession with my husband ...

Please Pray!!!

Mother Theresa once said that God only gives as much as we can handle, she just wished He didn't trust her so much. I like that. I'm feeling that. I'm so not liking it. That isn't always true. He wants us to depend on Him, His strength, not just ours so sometimes its a little more than we can handle...alone. I thought I would say I'm gonna whine. I'm not. I need to share. My heart is heavy. Hubby's Papa passed away last night. Miss Wiggles woke with a fever (again, the second in two weeks) so when he called his parents, his dad let him know that last night Papa passed away. We were going to go there anyway tomorrow. Lately every time I wake up drenched from a night sweat (which is a spiked fever in deep sleep but goes away by the time you wake up), Miss Wiggles has a fever as well. The only difference is they don't go away like mine do. So here we are, I'm not even thinking about Disney World next week. Right now all I know is my brain has been ...

Warning

God showed up with a hard hat, sledge hammer and Toby Mac on His IPOD. I should have known what was coming next. I need an "Under Construction" sign on my heart and a "Warning" sign on my mouth. Call me slow but it has taken me 6 years to figure out some truths about married life. I'm loving it but when a lie is tossed out, there can be a ripple effect, especially when Satan realizes He's losing ground and especially when ideas are decided on based on those lies. Its a ripple effect or a domino trail. Anyway, my pride and rebellious spirit meant, well, some words were said. Like the saying goes, the tooth paste is out of the tube and it isn't gonna go back in. I'm not ready to talk about it but I did just want to tell you, when God shows up with a hard hat, sledge hammer and Toby Mac on His IPOD...

Disney World! Yay!

I am so super excited! We are going to Disney World! I have never been and am super excited to go. What is particularely nice is that Miss Wiggles will be with Grandmama and Papa Stone. I'm telling you this is a much needed vacation. So how about all ya'll who have been to Disney World tell me about it?

True Worship, let it be etched into your heart

I came across some verses on cards I had intended to memorize. I never did. Its a shame. I put them on my bed side. Maybe eventually I'll get around to it.... Yeah, how often do we say that? Well, this last week I was blessed to hear Sharon of Established Footsteps speak . While I looked at her website I came across a 12 week devotion series on Romans 12 . Part of this devotion is to memorize all of Romans 12. All of it! Have you read Romans 12 lately? There isn't a single verse there not worth memorizing. What a power packed chapter. I want to take up the challenge and let Romans 12 be written on my heart. As Matt Redmen sings, let us get back to the heart of worship. Love ya, Katie

18th Annual ACC Gala

Update: For the record, just want you to know Gaila's name isn't spelled that way. It is Gala. Yes she has heard all the one liners I'm sure she can handle (umh, mostly from me). Having been at a gala last night, I'm sure every person there made the comparison. She's so sweet though, I'm sure she didn't mind. She's just cool that way. Last night Hubby and I attended the 18th Annual Salute to ACC, Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base (ACC is at Langley, not the event) :) Last night was a great evening mostly for me because it was a time to socialize in an adult setting with no children around. I had a great time talking with Hubby's colleagues as well as talking up several military member's spouses. Well, enough chit chat, here are pictures to tell a better story than me. The above picture is one of a series of historical pictures taken of soldiers and pilots serving over the last 90 years at Langley Air Force Base. Hubby and I cut qui...

I seriously do not know why God has blessed me like He has, but I feel like sharing it with you. I do this not to brag about me, but I like to brag on God and if He is going to go and do something awesome, well, I want everyone to know how great He is. I have a home I enjoy. I have friends and family I love all over the place whether back home Arizona or family in Oregon , Texas, Nebraska, Georgia, Washington, South Carolina. I have blog friends I adore. I have so many wonderful SAHM friends that I could be busy every day of the week with play dates which I usually am. They are all different too. I love the different people God has brought into my life. They shape me and challenge me and grow me. Its awesome! I mean first of all their is the beautiful little person that I adore even if her main mode of communication right now is no regardless of the context. These two people are incredible. I have been studying Song of Solomon and everything Shulamith says about Solomon, I truly f...
