18th Annual ACC Gala

Update: For the record, just want you to know Gaila's name isn't spelled that way. It is Gala. Yes she has heard all the one liners I'm sure she can handle (umh, mostly from me). Having been at a gala last night, I'm sure every person there made the comparison. She's so sweet though, I'm sure she didn't mind. She's just cool that way.
Last night Hubby and I attended the 18th Annual Salute to ACC, Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base (ACC is at Langley, not the event) :)


Last night was a great evening mostly for me because it was a time to socialize in an adult setting with no children around. I had a great time talking with Hubby's colleagues as well as talking up several military member's spouses. Well, enough chit chat, here are pictures to tell a better story than me.



The above picture is one of a series of historical pictures taken of soldiers and pilots serving over the last 90 years at Langley Air Force Base.





Hubby and I cut quite the dashing couple I'm a thinkin'. Isn't he handsome? See that bracelet there? Thank you Chloe for lending me your beautiful pearl and flourite six strand bracelet. I received many compliments and inquiries about the bracelet.




Some may not care about the shoes, but I know some do so I had to put a picture in here. I've been looking for a while for a pair of peep toe nude heels and so I knew this was my chance to take advantage and buy them. These shoes are from the Jessica Simpson line at Dillard's. For a high heel they were pretty comfortable. Of course I added shoe inserts which I do to every shoe but flip flops.


Now for the moment I literally had tears filling my star filled eyes. This gentlemen pictured here with Hubby and I is Ezra M. Hill Sr. one of the honored Tuskegee Airmen. Mr. Hill was one of the first African American pilots. He honored us with his singing our National Anthem. I will not soon forget. I wish I could forget what a goof I was in mentioning to him that had I a choice I would like to meet him over Brad Pitt any day. Yeah, like I said, goof.



Hubby went and purchased Mr. Hill's children's book about the Tuskegee Airman and....




...had it signed to all of us. Yes, all my code names is a bust considering their we are all listed but I couldn't go with out showing you all....ok, bragging a bit to you all...but I'm so excited I had to share it.



These gorgeous ladies are in no way related. Crazy right? We totally look like sisters. Well, Gaila and I sat at the same table last night. She mentioned that I looked familiar and we figured out that we are both Facebook friends and friends in real life with a cuter than cute gal named Jennie so we see each other on our Facebook pages when we both comment on Jennie's status. Now that my blogger world friends is CAARAAZEE! Then I, in total dork style, asked if I could take a picture with her so I could share this crazy story with you all. Gaila agreed because she is cool like that. Then there you have it, we looked at the pic of us and both realized, geez, we are like twins or somethin'. So that is why I looked so familiar to Gaila. Well, I couldn't have picked a more gorgeous woman to look like. You should have seen the amazing ring she wore, rhinestones set in a floral pattern. That girl's got style ya'll.
So that is that. We listened to awesome music, had great conversation, met cool people and looked great doing it. Umh, accept I had to put my cardi on because my bra kept showing. Minor glitch though.

You looked gorgeous! The dress and shoes were perfect...and the bracelet....well, I loved it in the original picture, but now seeing it on a wrist, I love it even more! Can't WAIT to wear it myself....and you are very welcome...you can borrow it anytime you like....you'll have to saw it off of my wrist, but you are welcome to it anytime!!

Wow! That looked like fun. I miss the military days of playing dress up for formal parties (my Hubby is retired after 22yrs). Thanks for sharing your 'twin' and all those pictures. I love pics!

Tammy, playing dress up is right! I couldn't decide of I felt old enough to say i felt like a prom chaperone or young enough to say I felt like I was going to prom myself. Maybe someday I will have done this sort of thing that I'll feel at a Black Tie event like I'm just at a Black Tie event. Regardless, you are right, playing dress up is fun. :)

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. Here is a magnetic one I made for my fridgerator out of left over scraps from the window from last week . For the month of September, all my DIYs will be giveways. Atleast one will be...well, a guest DIY and a giveway by my SIL over at Read Be Tween the Lines. My sister, Candy and Ladybugs has a picture in her side bar of her latest crosstiching (did I spell that right? My spell check didn't catch it but I don't think thats how it is spelled) project. A New Side Table Arrangement and Jewelery Give Away

I did not think through planning blog posts on certain days when I had a Beach Trip planned. Shortly before we arrived at our rented beach house for the Labor Day Weekend, the owners cut off the Internet service. Bummer. Yes, I could have gone to the Dunkin' Doughnuts and gotten free Wi - Fi but that would have meant being pulled away from this cutie. Miss Wiggles does not like the bright sun (she is a fair skinned red head so I suppose its only natural) so she loved loved loved her sunglasses. Never once did she try to pull them off or attempted to touch them. I think 'cause she sees me where mine, she just knew. In the DIY blogging world, there have been so many neat table arrangements, and arranging every where else from bed sides, dressers , mantles, windows, etc. that I felt I should try my novice hand at artfully arranging my side table to the cozy leather chair in my library (aka, home office).
