Sprouts Among the Cinders

I am so thankful for all that God has been doing in my life and the lives of those around me. A good friend told me this morning that her father had accepted Christ this week. I can't tell you how amazing that is to hear such an answer to a prayer that I know has been prayed for such a long time and so fervently. God is awesome!

This morning as the pastor spoke about Luke 12:54-13:8 I am reminded that our recent pain over the loss of those precious students and teachers at Virginia Tech is something that is not foreign to Jesus. He knows the hearts of all men and I am encouraged to continue on growing in Him and sharing his precious grace. I was also moved to tears as I watched Trey Perkin's father, Don knelt at the front of the church. For those who don't know, Trey was in the French class that was one of Cho's targets. By the grace of God, Trey and some other students were spared. Trey and another student were able to keep Cho from returning to the class room by laying on the ground and holding the door closed with their feet. After the service this morning, I am reminded of just how important it is for us as God's children to pray and pray hard without ceasing.

When Dan gets home we plan on taking over the Graduate's Bible Study. This is the group of young people that have graduated high school or college. I am just ecstatic about this. I am looking foreword to sowing into these young people's lives. I hope we can be as much of a blessing in their lives as I know they will be for Dan and me.

I am about to dive into another week. I am looking foreword to my next writing when I can say three more weeks! :)

Question: What has God spoken to you this week through the tragedy at Virginia Tech?

Hey Katie! I'm so glad you're blogging now.

I need to talk to you. I'll have to call you tomorrow (Monday). It is 10:46, so you've been sleeping for a while.
