A New Day
My dad is home. He got the okay from the doctors and is now out of the hospital. Praise God! Next week he and my mom will take two of their granddaughters to San Diego. I think that this will be very fun for them. I hope they have a great time. Dan's Papa is still working on recovering from his camping accident when a bar on his camper canopy came lose and whacked him in the leg. Please continue prayer for healing and also that he will find peace in that when he passes away, he is going to go home to his Heavenly Father.
Speaking of prayer, I read something a long time ago that I wrote down and then forgot. I found it the other day cleaning out some boxes. I knew as soon as I read it you were just the who I wanted to share it with.
"Prayer is the highest intelligence, the profoundest wisdom, the most vital, the most joyous, the most efficacious, the most powerful of all vocations. It is life, radiant, transporting, eternal life.
Away with the dry forms, with dead, cold habits of prayer! Away with sterile routine, with senseless performances, with petty play thing prayers! [Let us get at the serious work, the chief business of men, that of pray. Let us work at it skillfully. Let us seek to be adept at this great work of prayer. Let us be master work-men in this high art of praying.] Let us be so in the habit of prayer, so devoted to prayer, so filled with it's rich spices, so ardent by it's holy flame, that all heaven and earth will be perfumed by its aroma, and nations yet in the womb will be blessed by our prayers. Heaven will be fuller and brighter in glorious inhabitants, earth will be better prepared for its bridal day, and hell robbed of many of its victims because we have lived to pray. E.M. Bounds
I don't remember what book I read this quote from but if I did, I sure would go back and read it. What an awesome calling prayer is. When there is nothing else to do, we always have prayer. Even when there is tons to do about something, nothing surpasses the power and importance of prayer. It is the one thing we can do for a person when nothing else can be done. I know that prayer has been my life source as I watch loved ones live and make choices separated from the love of God. It grieves my heart when I know what an amazing abundant fruitful life and assurance they could have. This past spring I experienced a deep discouragement concerning my prayers for my family members who do not believe in Christ. I was beginning to believe Satan's lies that God is not listening to my prayers. During a time of prayer in a Bible study I felt God's Holy Spirit wash over me as I prayed for my fellow Bible study members. I prayed for a friend's father to accept Christ as he faced the final stages of Cancer. I had not felt such an awesome peace and intimacy before. It was only three days later that my friend's father accepted Christ. When I founded out, I cried from pure joy. I know now through this that God is dependable and I can rely on him. He hears me when I pray. I will never stop praying for my family. My friend can now rejoice as she rests in the knowledge that her father is now waiting for her in Heaven.
