Update from the road

The hiring conference went well for Dan. He interviewed with seven different companies. There are several prospective options as far as a future job for him. We are deep in prayer about all of this and I thank you for your prayers as well.

I need you to pray for some other things. Dan's grandfather, it seems, does not have much time left. He is really struggling as his body is struggling just to keep the balance as it weakens. He had a real bad fall a couple of weeks ago and recovery is real slow going. His heart is hardening. Also, my dad fainted last night and had to be rushed to the hospital. It turns out he is very anemic but the doctors are not sure where is blood is going or why his body is not making enough red blood cells. He is at the hospital today and the doctors are doing a lot of tests to figure things out. That is all I know at this moment at all aforementioned points. It sure is a stressful heart struggle when we are faced with our parent's mortality as they age. Please pray for my mom and mother-in-law as well.

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. Here is a magnetic one I made for my fridgerator out of left over scraps from the window from last week . For the month of September, all my DIYs will be giveways. My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project. My first DIY Day! I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time. Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Inspiration

So, I am reading this book, $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything. Its just super inspirational. I like inspirational people. I have this friend, Kathrine who is the best sewing person, sewer or whatever you call it in the whole world. When inspiration strikes, she sews stuff.  I think that is freaking awesome. I have friends who have passions and they just go for it. Love it! My brother, Justin wanted to design toys. He did it. My brother and sister in love, Scott and Laura wanted to start a youth horse ranch. They are doing it. My husband was a sweet little country boy who wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. He did it. See the pattern? I like being inspired. So $100 Startup is a book full of people who find themselves not so much in a career or really intending to make it big but they just start down a path and do what they love.
