Brooke Fraser

I have come across an amazing artist, Brooke Fraser. Her lyrics are as strong as her voice. In the pop culture of Christian music, repetitive one liners are very popular, but Brooke's lyric's are thoughtful and meditative. Arithmetic is a simple reminder that as God does not keep score, we need to remember to not as well, while Albertine challenges us to action that is selfless. So far these are my favorite songs. Visit her website to hear these two songs as well as a few more gems from her collection at brookefraser.com I have heard that she is planning a tour in the United States (she is a New Zealand artist). I am hoping there will be one close enough to me to go to.

On another note, D and I are doing Bible studies on purpose. It is so awesome to finally have some awesome fellowship over God's word. The hunger pains in my heart were getting quite unbearable. I am encouraged and am excited to refocus on God's purpose. Man's purpose is so selfish. I have been privy lately to people not just rejecting random people in their lives for not living up to expectations or perceived offenses, but they have rejected their very own family members for petty things I can't and won't get into. Needless to say though, this rips right to my core since life is just so short to hold grudges, unforgivness, and to not allow others to just have faults. I find the ones I love are worth fighting for, but man the fight can be hard when you find your fighting them at the same time. The person for whom I have stood beside and witnessed these has been such an example to me as she has unconditionally loved and continuously embraced her family members that continue to hurt her. I find myself assessing myself and wondering if I exhibit the same kind of selflessness. I admit probably not but I hope to try harder. Spending time in God's word these days reminds me that our battle is not flesh and blood, but against Satan, his demons, and the powers of this dark world (something like that at the end of the book of Ephesians). I also am thankful to remember that this world is only the warm up to eternity, it isn't the end all and be all for us. I am thankful this is only a pretest and dress rehearsal. Kind of puts things in perspective.
