Lifes little happenings

Who can believe how expensive groceries are getting. I can barely if ever keep groceries for just Dan and me under a $100 these days (of course my newly obtained eating habits do have something to do with that). So far I am trying to get what I can at Big Lots and the rest at Wal-Mart. I've gone to a few other places and keep my receipts so I can compare prices on stuff. Pretty soon we will renew our Costco membership which will help on some items.

I am excited my parents plan to come visit us when we have our ultra sound to find out whether we have a boy or girl. Then my mom can help us get the baby's room started. Regardless of whether it is a boy or girl, there will be bugs. A boy's room will be all bugs like bugs for boys should be and if it is a girl, then it will be more of a frog prince and princess with bugs. I'm really looking forward to it. With my sister and her two girls at my parents for the school year while my brother-in-law is in Holond, I am so homesick. I want to be with my nieces and nephew there so badly.

I read the 13 week update last night. If we have a girl then at 13 weeks she already has 2 million eggs in her ovaries! That is crazy. I am blown away by that. The frog deco will really work then.

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. Here is a magnetic one I made for my fridgerator out of left over scraps from the window from last week . For the month of September, all my DIYs will be giveways. My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project. My first DIY Day! I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time. Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Inspiration

So, I am reading this book, $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything. Its just super inspirational. I like inspirational people. I have this friend, Kathrine who is the best sewing person, sewer or whatever you call it in the whole world. When inspiration strikes, she sews stuff.  I think that is freaking awesome. I have friends who have passions and they just go for it. Love it! My brother, Justin wanted to design toys. He did it. My brother and sister in love, Scott and Laura wanted to start a youth horse ranch. They are doing it. My husband was a sweet little country boy who wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. He did it. See the pattern? I like being inspired. So $100 Startup is a book full of people who find themselves not so much in a career or really intending to make it big but they just start down a path and do what they love.
