This day I stand here.
I have just read the words written on Beth Moore's blog and highly recommend them for you to read as well. They reflect what is in my own heart concerning our President-elect Barack Obama. Through this election, families, churches, friends etc. have been divided. Jesus knew this nature in us and said, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.'" (Matthew 12:25) "A united house stands. A divided house falls. The devil has much to gain. But he also has much to lose"~Moore. Many at this time may gloat and others may bemoan this outcome, but never, never forget, as Apostle Paul said, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior..." Gods ways are not our own. They are not my own and for that I am thankful because that is my choice, thankfulness that nothing passes by God undetected and what seems dire to some God will use for good. What appears good to some is not a spear to hold over others.
Regardless of our own feelings, God has commanded us to pray for our leaders, pray for each other not our will be done but His will be done. Always see every turn as an opportunity to seek God, know Him and make Him known.
Father God,
I do not know the future but You do. I do not know the future but I know what you ask me to do, love my neighbor as my self. Father God I pray with all my heart that the fire of the Holy Spirit burn in the heart of every Christ follower with an unquenchable heat. While some choose innaction, bemoaning, gloating, division and pride, I pray there be unity among your people, the like that has yet to be seen. Pour your Holy Spirit out like a flood among your people that we show love, mercy and truth to those in our lives. Shine brightly in us that the night be like day.
I pray both for President-elect Barack Obama and Congress that not only your hand be in their actions, but they be made aware of it. As Satan attempts to make a foot hold of our country, I pray you claim it back and hold it firmly. As many have chosen to seek personal power and personal agendas, I pray you guide Obama and our leaders in knowledge, in wisdom, and in truth.
Father, where I end, you begin. Though I lack all knowledge and wisdom, You do not. As you imparted on King David, impart upon me wisdom to glorify You and make You known above all else. Guide my ways, guide my family's ways, guide my churche's ways and guide the ways of my country.
You are great my Lord, King of kings. You are God there is no other.
