I've got a beef

I don't normally like to complain on my blog, but I have found something worth complaining about. That horror movie, The Orphan. Seriously? Seriously? To you all who made that stupid movie, the rest of us were wondering what were you thinking? Why with the state of the world being as it is, with so many children out there who need a good home (I worked in the juvenile court system, believe me you don't need to go to Guatamala or China to find a child), why make a movie to possibly stigmatize adopting in the eyes of prospective adoptive families like they did for clowns in It? I can't even stand seeing the trailers for that movie (all-be-it, the trailers may contain the only thirty seconds of scary scenes, thats been known to happen to more than one movie). I have tons and tons of admiration for every person who has adopted a child, many of the most amazing people I know were adopted and its a big leap of faith feuled by enormous loving hearts of prospective and existing adoptive parents. While I am aware of the dark side of adoption, when certain countries get to popular, and bad people start taking babies from good families, so I'm not ignorant on that, I've done my research, I've done tons of prayer over this. We need to promote the care of orphans in any shape or form whether it is adopting, mentoring, advocating (CASA) or reporting abuse. Never mind that the Bible says it is our responsibilities to take care of widows and orphans, this is just common sense. That orphan movie throws the poor kids under the bus in hopes of turning a buck. Shameful Shameful Shameful!

I would say ok, I will now step of my soap box, but anybody who knows me will know this is a soap box I'm never going to step off of.

I agree....I think it is terrible to use the adoption of a child and make a horror movie out of it!!!!

Come by my blog I have something for you.....

Haven't seen the movie, but I already don't like! I think adoption is one of the most Christ-like things we can do.
Continue to stand and shout from your soap box. This is important. Let your passion out every chance you get.

I hear you. And I agree.
