Rearrange, Redecorate and the ReStore

Here is our lovely new office. It took me forever to get that first picture. My sea foam chair and Hubby's leather chair with matching ottomans facing our desks facing each other surrounded by three book shelves is so awesome! A rug and window treatments will be perfect. I think something needs to go in front of those desks. Mmmh.
These are the chairs. That is Leo the cat.

Then on Saturday we went to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and found these three beauties.

Aaah, much better. I love the traveler looks. I've two globes and my eye on another one that has been just randomly sitting abandoned at my church. I think it is even out of date. Awesome!

This grouping sits holding court right behind my sea foam chair. Hubby refinished the army trunk. The rest of those are from Ben Franklin's.

Since we already had one army trunk and an Air Force trunk (in the play room) I had to settle for just taking a picture of these two army trunks at the ReStore just to show ya'll. Aren't the hidden treasures?

There was this interesting treasure. A friendly black man came up to us as I snapped a picture. He asked, "Hey, do you remember the slave days?" Which I almost joked, "No, I was just a preschooler back then." Didn't though. My literal humor isn't always humorous Hubby tells me.
Well, the kind man, Matthew, explained that this antique box is not an ice box as many assume it is. He explained that back in the slave era, on plantations and such, white people had these little wooden cabinets with a bowl inside. Just guess what they did with the bowl?

It was their toilet! Eww! Matthew explained that a house slave would then have to maintain it. I told him that was one crappy job. He thought that was funny. I really like Matthew.
Can you believe that? Right there for fifty bucks in great condition something that was pretty much treated like crap...ok bad joke... was in really good condition. I collect globes though, not toilets so again I took a picture for ya'll to see. Where would you put that anyway? Don't answer that.
To come this week the rest of my Oswald Chamber's study, Co-Crucifixion, Resurrection, Eternal Life. Can't wait to share that with you. There is so much I want to share with you. So much I'm doing, so much to come. God is simply and complexly amazing!

Update: I don't like Matthew! Right after posting, my SIL, Julie calls and tells me Mr. Matthew is a fibber. It is just a craftsman style side table. To further prove it, she sent me a picture of her coffee table which is the matching coffe table of a set. I'll post the picture later. Her sister has the side table in her house. Well, don't I feel sheepish. Why you wonder didn't I just erase the story? Well, what is the fun in that. Now you're in on the good story which is now a funny story all be it at my expense. Have a great week and don't look to me for any antique advice...ever. ;)

Sarah, if only there was a way I could get those trunks to you I would go right down and get them. How fun to clean them up and give them a home. They were only $30! Can you believe that?
