God made the silence and then He spoke

A couple hours ago the electricity went out and I was so excited. Hubby and I were wrapping up dinner and I dreaded the kitchen clean up. I can't breath so great so I am rather tired (going to Doctor tomorrow).

The silence was divine! I mean that in the sense that I liked it and in the sense that I really actually believe God purposefully allowed it to give me the chance to rest. So as utter silence enveloped our house I curled up on the couch with my new HomeLife magazine and my Bible. Here are a few Bible Verses and quotes that drew me during my forced quiet time.

We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ~Daniel 9:6

Mid all the traffic of the way,
Turmoil without, within,
Make of my heart a quiet place,
And come and dwell therein. ~Unknown

A time of quiet reflection, so necessary to spiritual and mental health, is not easily gained in the hustle of contemporary life. Make at least a few moments of reflections a priority this weekend.

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. ~Zephaniah 3:17

My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore. ~Psalm 131

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. ~Job 8:21

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dried up the bones. ~Proverbs 17:22

Our mouths were filled with laughter then and our tongues with shouts of joy. Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." ~Psalm 126:2

Blessed are you who weep now, because you will laugh. ~Luke 6:21b
