The Magic of White Linens

Tonight I finish painting my bedroom the prettiest of pale fresh like cut cucumber green and the trim a crisp bright white. The next step will be to buy new linens and things for the bed. I am going all white. ALL WHITE! I'm so excited because the walls were white and the bed linens green. Now the walls are green and bed linens white. Cool.

There you have it. I love the crisp clean look of white linens but love color so this is really going to work for me. I will be changing the art above my bed and my curtains and my rug. All of that is free because I'm trading with other areas in my house. Now that is awesome!
So far I'm loving the more modern look of French Dressing over the Cottage Chic. I love the modern look of clean lines. 90 degree angles give me a sense of stability. I am also a major fan of Craftsman style and Frank Loyd Wright over the delicate look of Victorian. I recall sitting at lunch time in the common area at Arizona State University West and feeling wrapped in the horizontal lines of the buildings. Very grounded.
Anyway. Once the bedroom is finished, you know there will be before and after pictures. I promise not to disappoint. ;)

We have white sheets and a tan duvet cover. We wanted it to look like a hotel bed. :) Now I want to go to bed, but it is too early! :)

DIY Day a bracelet and another Frenchh Memo Board

This week, I have two DIY projects. This is a faux pearl bracelet I made last week for a friend. It is a three strand bracelet. I couldn't really say how I did it though. I can say it has taken me a while to get the nack of jewelery making. One thing I have sufficiently gotten the nack of is this French Memo Baord thing. My second greatest creation!

I did it, I really did it. I've never done something to at this scale of work. It took me many hours but I did it. I am so proud of this DIY project. My first DIY Day! I would be remiss in mentioning that this little beauty is my best DIY and that handsome man there, well, he just melts my heart and fortifies it all at the same time. Here is the plain old dirty six paned window I have been hauling with me every where since I found it a few years ago at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. I had it done up before but that was a novice's attempt at crafty. I knew when I saw the other crafty DIY projects floating around the blogosphere that I would need to get serious in order to play with the big dogs. Inspiration

So, I am reading this book, $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau. I'm not planning on starting a business or anything. Its just super inspirational. I like inspirational people. I have this friend, Kathrine who is the best sewing person, sewer or whatever you call it in the whole world. When inspiration strikes, she sews stuff.  I think that is freaking awesome. I have friends who have passions and they just go for it. Love it! My brother, Justin wanted to design toys. He did it. My brother and sister in love, Scott and Laura wanted to start a youth horse ranch. They are doing it. My husband was a sweet little country boy who wanted to go to the Air Force Academy. He did it. See the pattern? I like being inspired. So $100 Startup is a book full of people who find themselves not so much in a career or really intending to make it big but they just start down a path and do what they love.
