I just love clothes!
As a Christian woman, I've grappled with the balance between humility and wanting to be the best looking in the room. You know I'm not the only one so don't be a hater ya'll! Honestly, I love fashion. Of course I love it just as much when I see one of my gal pals or guy buds get it right as well (men, when wearing a suit, your socks should be the same color as your pants, khaki pants means khaki socks, grey pants=grey socks, black pants=black socks, you get the picture). I am free to want to make sure my body as God's Temple (also translated back to the Hebrew word used for The Holy of Holies) looks good. Just as long as I am not focusing on showing me off, but God. Got it!
I don't go all out and just buy one brand or anything (well, because I can't afford to shop at Anthropology) and I am humble enough to shop for clothes at Wal-Mart (can we say, down payment for a house? Down payment, down payment!)
There are style rules to follow however no matter how much money you have. Style isn't a cost thing, its a knowing what your looking for thing.
That is why when I stumbled across a few articles lately I got ubber excited. First there was THIS article from Shine at Yahoo. Who doesn't want to Look Super Chic on a Real Life Budget? I'm so with you!
Then today on Facebook, a pal of mine posted a blog post from THIS blog about how to avoid Mom Jeans as in Pancake Butt and Long Butt. Being a mom and in my Thirties (shudder) I am ever vigilant.
So, I really do love style. I actually take my prescription meds to Target just so I can walk around for the duration of my wait period. Guilty pleasure right there plus an exercises in will power not to buy anything. Down payment! Down payment! I do however love my new peep toe nude pumps by Jessica Simpson. Still looking for the right belt to wear with my blue maxi dress from Old Navy. I can't wait until my hair is long enough to wear a side braid. Making sure my eye shadow isn't the same color as my outfit (no blue eyeshadow matching a blue shirt here ya'll is my every present endeavor. Thank you Next Top Model for that one.
Oh how I miss having cable just so I can watch Project Runway and What Not to Wear, Say Yes to the Dress, Ten Years Younger, Next Top Model. I've got Internet though, so I just can't justify it yet....yet.
Anyway, thank you for sticking around and reading the insanity. Seriously, men! The sock thing is real! You want to look like you know what your doing in the office, look like you know what you were doing when you got dressed this morning. Hubby has a pair of matching green socks and green slacks. No way I would let my man wear brown socks with deep dark olive green pants. The sheen of your belt and pants should match as well. Shiny shoes= shiny belt You get the picture. This is just my education since Hubby entered the suit and tie every day post military uniform everyday. You should see him standing in front of his tie rack coordinating his tie with his suit with his shirt. I'm so in love.

Fashion is just as important to me today and I'm not a brand snob. I'll shop just about anywhere (age appropriate, of course). Being fashionable doesn't have to cost a lot, it just has to be smart.
Great post, I enjoyed it!
