Chillin' with my lemonade and index cards
With the changing gears of summer, a little more lemonade and sweet tea as we take a break from chamomile and chili, other things take their own hiatus, primarily all the church Bible Studies and MOPS. I would love to go to church on Wed. nights for that Bible Study but as it stands, cranky teething baby on the verse of independent toddler...who am I kidding, at 16 months I've got a toddler on my hands. Oh, yeah, to finish that run on sentence, Wed. nights are not in our scope at the moment.
So I've looked into some other options. Living Proof Ministries or more specifically, Beth Moore on her blog is leading her "Siesta Sisters" through Kelly Minter's Ruth; Loss, Love & Legacy. I'm super excited to be going through the book with her. Hopefully next year I can put my own group of girls together to go through it.
In addition to the Ruth study, I am one week into memorizing Romans 12.
Therefore, I urge you, in view of God's mercy, offer yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1
To achieve this goal (honestly, I didn't put as much as I should into it this week so hopefully next week I'll do a little better) I am going through Sharon Thomas at Establish Footsteps. Sharon has a 12 week journey to memorizing Romans 12 I am excited about. I've read through scripture, even memorized a few but never have I really sought out to get it established so deep into my heart as this 12 week study endeavors to do. The picture above is of a frame my friend, Melinda, gave me when she came to visit me from Arizona. Every week my goal is to put that week's verse in it so I will continue to see it as I go about my day.
Something that I've really had to do this week as a result of offering my body as a living sacrifice is do all I do for Hubby and Wiggles with a spirit of worshiping God. To do this, I've had to do a lot of "dieing to self" and praising God for all that I am doing including changing the diaper of a flailing toddler, ironing shirts for my very busy hubby, scrubbing cheap linoleum that may never really be clean. God does not disappoint and I have to say that once again I find though my circumstances haven't changed, my attitude has. There are so many areas in my life that the purposeful worship of God has yet to seep into but I am prayerfully and humbly seeking for just that. I also humbly ask you keep me accountable. I would treasure your prayers as I embark on this process. Your affirming words and accountability would be armor against the ever present desire to walk away since innately, I am normally rather scatter brained when it comes to this sort of committed effort.
Next week: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
