Kitchen Before and After

Pictures are finally here! The kitchen has a few more details but I will hold you in suspense no longer.

See this particular corner of a cabinet all yuckified?

Yeah, the whole kitchen was like that. I had to take steel wool to each of the door and drawer handles to clean the gunk off of them. It was enough to make your skin crawl. The counter was pealing and stained and generally...well, yuck.

Then we bought paint...

and many hours and days later.

The owners of our rental bought new counter tops and we painted the cabinets and spray painted the hardware.

Yes, it is a rental but what can I say? We really are a bit crazy. I'm ok with that though. Now we can comfortably have guests in our home which we have nonstop for the last few months and not feel like some health code was violated. I'm dramatic, I know but its true. We attacked the kitchen with sand paper. After that, we primed and painted white with oil based paint. It isn't my favorite but it is the best for kitches, so I sucked it up. I used primer spray paint and black spray paint to give new life to the existing hardware. I went that route since I have a lot of black spray paint. Honestly, what I wanted was to spray them all silver. I like this too though. I am now working on some window deco. I've heard rumors there is a way to utilize place mats to spiffy a window up. I'm gonna look into that.

So I'm in the process of buying new houseplants. I should have known not to plant my prized babies in Miracle Grow. Every time I use Miracle Grow in my house plants I get gnats. One was particularly special because it was a gift from Hubby after our first miscarriage; a cactus with the name zygote cactus. I wonder what he was trying to tell me with that. Well, my house plants are no more and I'm in the market for new ones. We will see.

I mentioned a few posts ago leaking some pics of the new additions to the Collection 139. Well here ya go.
