Late night Sunday thoughts

One thing I love is to get into good discussions, not the kind where we all agree, but the kind where we can really challenge each other as Christians and come out closer to each other and stronger in our faith. One particular subject that I think is just such fodder I have taken from church today. It has to do with Satan taking what God had planned for good and twisting it in our minds as bad or at least not good or even just not of God anymore. We talked about global warming. Through the whole right wing left wing set up of politics it isn't a conservative Christian's responsibility to consider the earth's health in our dealings. Wasn't it though God's ordained human responsibility? Adam was put in charge of the earth from the very beginning. It is so easy to be swayed be culture as to what our responsibilities as Christians are. I am so thankful that we have God's Word to go back to too remind ourselves of what our true purpose is for and how we are to...
My favorite place is my couch with my lap top. I am so addicted to the internet. The last couple of days though it isn't so much the internet but that I have a cold that has kept me couch bound. I had lots of plans for this weekend, two baby showers, a pampered chief party, dinner guests and Dan teaching at church. Maybe I'll make it to church in the morning but for now here I am on my couch with a pile of tissues growing and a glass of orange juice.
After a lot of prayer and struggling, I went into work yesterday (Thursday) and quit me job as a hiring manager. There were a lot of reasons for it and I believe it was the right choice. I am now in the search for a new position. Right now I am limiting my search to the internet as I have a cold so I am going to have to get over that before I venture out again. The last couple months or rather year and a half have been quite an experience for me and Dan as well. I want to thank all of you who have been such amazing friends and supporters. God has used so many of you to infuse my life with love and affirmation as well as a lot of truth that helped me move forward. Though the circumstances have been a struggle I know that God has grown us into much stronger people as a result. I am praying that I can turn around and use my newfound growth and strength to be as much a support to you as you have all been to me.

A Grief Observed

My many blessings have been a comfort to me as of late. These days I remind myself when my mind is saddened that I have an amazing husband, family, friends, home, country and job. Most of all I have a savior who saw me as worth dieing for and so did that I might choose to spend eternity with Him. In these things I am very thankful. One thing lately I find difficult is finding the balance between being thankful and grieving. I am quite burnt out at this point. I am hoping to find renewing on the women's retreat in April. Dan is a constant strength often times baring with grace my struggling mood. This past weekend Dan and I visited a friend out of town. While out we went to Barnes & Noble. I found the book A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis. I've only read the first chapter so far. C.S. Lewis' thoughts are a light into myself. He puts into words the thoughts and feelings of grief that can help us all realize we are not alone when we grieve. I tried to find a q...

Good Friday

Looking out my window this morning I looked into my eroded back yard where nary a blade of grass can grow and by two trees are two batches of daffodils three in each grouping. In such an environment where no sun reaches them and the soil is bare eroded and over run with tree roots are six little daffodils. What comes to mind is a friend of my sister who has a blog called Blooms Where Planted. That is what I want to be. I want to bloom where God puts me no matter the kind of soil, the amount of sun or water and regardless of who else is hogging my space. I have made it my commitment in life to be an example of God's unconditional love, unconditional forgiveness and unconditional mercy. Some day I hope to say I have achieved this goal. I forget sometimes that this does not mean soft fluffy and all kinds of warm fuzzies for every step I take. A good associate of mine once told me he sees me as a lamb among lions. I walk among people who either could put a sailor's mouth to s...

Sweet Diversion

As of late, my mind has been unstoppable. It is normal for my mind to be in a constant 100mph rush but this last week it was wearing me thin. Friday I came home and decided to rake the last of the leaves in the front flower bed. As I raked the most wonderful thing happened, my mind stopped it's million mile an hour rush in every direction pace and the only things I had on my mind were leaves. It was heavenly. I felt much more relaxed. So yesterday Dan and I put new mulch in the floor beds, planted the last of the bulbs (hopefully they will come up next year) and filled all my flower pots with pansies and snapdragons. I also planted to rose bushes I received recently from my sister, Michelle and my friends, Erin. The yard looks absolutely beautiful. Well, the flower beds and pots, the grass is still a nice golden wheat color of dead but that will soon change. This has been a very nice weekend. I am excited to have this outlet to help me relax especially with a job that my...
